Laurel Circle, a senior living community in Bridgewater, served as the stage when Crim Primary School chorus students performed on Tuesday, December 3.
Crim’s 2nd Grade Chorus put on a superb show before the residents when they spread joy and cheer during the holiday season.
According to Elizabeth Kane, Crim’s Chorus Director and Music Instructor:
“The students prepared winter music, learned dance moves, and created holiday cards to honor our elderly and kick off the holiday season right! “
“The residents were elated to watch the concert and enjoyed conversing with Crim students and teachers,” Ms. Kane reported.
She also touched on how this experience impacted her chorus students.
"This was a great exercise in service-learning, and that sort of experience matters. Our 2nd Graders were able to connect classroom learning to real-world community experiences, which allowed students to develop critical thinking skills, gain practical experience, get a sense of civic responsibility, and foster a deeper understanding of community,” Ms. Kane stated.
“Essentially, this event helped students to be more engaged citizens by providing hands-on learning that goes beyond the textbook and promotes personal growth alongside community impact. We are so proud of their performance and outreach, Ms. Kane stated.
She added
“Special thanks to Crim Principal (Kelliann Tenkate) and Matt McCarthy (Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District’s Supervisor of Arts Education) for making these programs possible.”
