BRHS soccer teams win academic honors

The boys and girls’ soccer teams at Bridgewater-Raritan High School connected on a hat trick—off the field and in the classroom.

Bridgewater-Raritan High School's boys’ and girls’ soccer programs—for the third consecutive year– were honored for their excellence in school.

In September, the United Soccer Coaches Association announced its high team academic award winners, which included both the boys’ and girls’ teams at Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

The award recognized scholastic soccer teams for their educational excellence during the 2025-2026 school year.

The Grade Point Average (GPA) of both teams was compiled by Bridgewater-Raritan High School Counselor Tito Santos, who is also the coach of the high school’s freshman boys’ soccer team.

Once Coach Santos finished crunching the numbers, the girls’ team had a GPA of 3.85, and the boys' team posted a 3.49.

Those sparkling numbers placed Bridgewater-Raritan High School in rare company.

Only 29 schools in the entire country had both their boys’ and girls' soccer teams recognized for this elite award.

The captains of both squads—Maddy Corbitt for the girls and Conor Rosander for the boys— shared how crucial it is to be committed to academics while competing on the soccer field.

“I think it’s very important that we keep up with both the academic and athletic parts of high school sports, and for the past few years our team has been doing just that,” Corbitt explained. “To be able to not only be a part of this team, but also to be the captain of it makes me extremely proud and I hope the team continues to receive this award in the years to come.”

"Being a student-athlete is a lot. We practice every day after school, come home late from games, and still have to complete schoolwork,” Rosander stated. “ It requires a lot of effort to balance these responsibilities, so it is an honor to receive an award highlighting our hard work."

Both Bridgewater-Raritan High School soccer teams have also achieved success on the field this fall.

The girls' soccer team has played to an 8-2-2 record, while the boys’ soccer squad has earned a 9-4 record,
