Justin Simpson, a mainstay player during the historic 2025 football season at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, officially signed a letter of intent with Bucknell University.
Simpson, a 6-2, 315-pound anchor on the offensive line at tackle and also a force on the defensive front, selected Bucknell over the College of Holy Cross, which also offered him a full scholarship.
Simpson’s play up front helped Bridgewater-Raritan win the program’s first state sectional playoff championship this past season.
Bridgewater-Raritan captured the North Jersey Section 2, Group 5 state sectional playoff crown when it defeated Bayonne High School, 21-15, on Friday, November 14, before an enthusiastic crowd at Basilone Memorial Field in Bridgewater.
Bridgewater-Raritan was then defeated by Passaic County Tech, 23-14, in the Group 5 state semifinals on Friday, November 21.
Coach DJ Catalano, who guided Bridgewater-Raritan to a 9-4 record this fall, believes that the college in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, has acquired a “special player.”
“We are so proud of Justin and his signing with Bucknell University. This is a culmination of all of his hard work and success on and off the field,” Coach Catalano said. “Bucknell got a special player, and his Bridgewater-Raritan family cannot wait to watch him on Saturdays.”
