Crim community cares so they started an operation to support our U.S. Military

The Crim Primary School community cares.

So that being said, they started an operation.

That operation was to partner with the renowned Operation Jersey Cares, a non-profit that organizes fund-raising events to provide goods and assistance to United States Military Troops across the globe.

Headquartered in Flemington, four passionate volunteers from Operation Jersey Cares paid a visit to the Crim Primary School on Friday, March 24.

They were invited there by the school’s PTO, including Emily Calistri, who is Chairman of the Crim CARES committee and the Crim PTO Vice President.

In turn, the Crim students will collect goods and items over the course of the next eight days and will assemble bags to be shipped to our military who are stationed all over the world.

The four Operation Jersey Care volunteers—--Alison Castellano, Dana Gooditis, Janis Grover and Alex Jeyschune— were on hand to discuss their organization and these tremendous deeds that they perform, often with the support of such caring individuals as school families.

Enter Ms. Calistri, who is also a member of the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District Board of Education.

“We want the students to show support for our troops. Kids will collect items such as hygienic products and dry foods,” Ms. Calistri said.

She explained that once the collection is concluded on April 4, the 4th Grade students at Crim form an assembly line and will pack the bags worth of goods and items, which will be placed in boxes to be shipped off to appreciative soldiers at military bases.

“This is very fulfilling, it will remind our soldiers of their home when they receive the bags,’ Ms. Castellano said. “The stores where they are stationed do not have these items or they are overpriced.”

Once the assembly concluded on March 24, each student from Crim received a star that was once a sewn piece of an American flag  that was flown at various military posts around the world, according to Ms. Calistri.

Crim Principal Kelliann TenKate offered her words on how proud she was of her school community

“I was very excited about Crim students, staff and families working together to support our troops,’ Principal TenKate said. “It is important  for students to learn about our country, our flag and those who have given and continue to give their lives to fight for and protect our freedom.”

Principal TenKate was grateful to her school’s spirited parent support groups.

“Special thanks to our Crim CARES committee for bringing this philanthropic opportunity to Crim Primary School.”
