2020-04-30 Update - COVID-19 - Day 28 - Appreciation

Good Evening,

Another week of Distance Learning has come to an end. Tomorrow is a give back day and time for a break for all. The governor reiterated that no change will be made to the current earliest date of return: May 15, 2020. As such, we will continue on Distance Learning until then. He shared that he will update us on possible extensions closer to that date and he shared his Roadmap for reopening the state. It can be found here.

As he moves along this roadmap, the state is slowly reopening. This includes the reopening of our public parks across the county and state. Please know:

• All school facilities and grounds remain closed to the public. Please do not use any outdoor equipment, including playground elements, at this time.

As we move into next week, please continue to work with your teachers and building administrators. We are making every effort to hold our special events in the safest and most inclusive ways possible. Unfortunately, due to contract and safety issues, we may have to cancel some completely.  As details are confirmed for academic programs and end-of-year events, you will hear from your building administrators. 

Lastly, next week is Teacher Appreciation Week with the national day being Tuesday, May 5. Please find any way to let your teachers, and everyone in the district working for our community, know how you appreciate their efforts. If you tweet, remember to include the hashtag #BRingonthedistancelearning. All of your messages appear on our DL page. They do not have to be long or complicated… but they mean so much to our staff.

Important Reminders:

• Timelines and calendar

1. As per the governor’s directive, we will remain on DL until at least May 15, 2020.
2. The academic calendar will remain the same for the rest of this school year. This includes our give back days. Barring emergent events, tomorrow, May 1, as well as May 27 and June 5 will become days off from DL. 
3. The district continues to deliver food to qualified families. If your financial situation has changed due to this crisis, please let us know by going to our website here (Select Free and Reduced Lunch).

 We have a ways to go, but we will keep moving together.
